Dec 18 I would like to share with you all that it may not be a great idea buying from depop The sellers are very slow at providing updates and they do not provide you with a tracking number. You don't know when to expect your parcel in the mail In some cases it may take a month for order to arrive It's definitely better to shop on ebay, they do provide you with a tracking number
The item I bought on Depop looked perfect on the seller's pics, but in reality I got low quality fake absolutely not corresponding with the pics, for $550+taxes and fees. Please be aware, that there is no such thing as Depop buyer protection - they just completely ignored my claim.

I placed a couple of luxury items on Depop to sell and was notified very quickly that I had a purchaser for one of them. A Depop service technician came on chat to help with the payment and ended up taking the money. It was a scam. Depop deny any responsibility even though it took place on their platform and I have screen shot proof of the chat.
I'm so annoyed with myself that I didn't come here and read the reviews before buying something on depop. I got suspicious when the evri tracking history still said they were awaiting my item after one week. Then I sent a message to the seller with no answer. Then I went through the depop app requesting a refund. Next time I checked on the app, my seller has deleted their account! So, definitely was scammed out of £20. Do not buy from depop - how can they claim buyer protection when they allow a seller to delete their profile/account in the middle of a refund request?
I bought a jacket as a gift, and the seller never stated there was a name written on it with permanent marker. Of course I'm not going to give a gift with someone else name on it, so I asked for a refund from the seller and from Depop. The seller never answered one of my messages, and Depop's representative literally told me "we sell vintage, so it's not a big deal." The customer service rep was named Takahiro A.
I did a charge back on them, this is literally the worst customer service and site I've ever encountered. Even getting to the refund process was annoying since there's no direct button to it, you have to type out all sorts of nonsense.
Tip for consumers:
I will never use this site again.

I'm a seller on Depop and I haven't had any issues. Potential buyers read descriptions and ask questions. We respond to each other in a timely matter. Everything is very easy to use! If you sell just regular goods like decor, low end fashion and accessories, you'll run into no problems. I don't trust any platforms selling high priced items or buying high end goods. The fee is only 10% compared to Poshmark which makes this more desirable to sell on. The platform is overall good but a little lacking:
1. There's no way to see my own shipping costs as a seller. I would have to edit the listing and its shipping info to see what option I've selected. Not very convenient as I can't remember every setting I put for shipping. Sometimes I offer free shipping to buyers but I can't tell unless I dig deeper.
2. Messaging platform should allow images. I send potential buyers images they request but it's in a Google drive link or something else. As a person myself, I feel safer if I know images are sent through the platform. If they're inappropriate, allow them to be reported. Sometimes, items get damaged and images for proof helps the case more. It also helps the buyer/seller communicate better.
3. Flat shipping rates are a little high but that's to be expected for Priority Mail and insurance up to $100.
4. Customer service is a bit lacking. Sometimes you have a seller or buyer emergency and they would take 2+ days to reply. When they do reply, it really stretches too much time and sometimes buyers can be impatient or mistrust you.
5. Depop referred me to file an insurance claim with USPS even though the label is provided by Depop. To me, that makes no sense. USPS has less incentive to help a regular customer as opposed to a partner company.
It's overall a good platform to sell on. I personally haven't ran into any issues with any buyers. The demographic is perfect for the clothes and accessories I sell. The platform is also much easier to list on, compared to eBay. I highly recommend it if you want to get rid of some stuff you have.
After selling on depop for 5 years and earning them £100s of pounds worth from their fees.
I sold a customer a £600 jacket and he reported it as undelivered despite me providing proof of postage to depop, they instantly took the money out of my BANK ACOUNT without any warning and refused to reply to any of my emails. Useless customer service and a shambolic excuse for an app. Goodbye depop

Do not use this company.
Bought a coat with a hole in - described as overall good condition. I do not think good condition means a hole
Depop obviously does think a hole is good condition as they would not refund and were not interested.
Have read so many bad reviews - wish I had seen the reviews before making a purchase. So I add mt review to warn others not to use this company.
If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They are stealing from people. DO NOT SHOP HERE. If you're stellar doesn't sent you the right item, Depop will not help you. You are stuck paying for the item AND the shipping to return the item. So far, I have no refund. I've done everything they've asked and still nothing. Thank goodness I didn't buy something more expensive but it's the principal. SAVE YOUR MONEY! There's a lot of better ways to indulge in vintage pieces.

Returns are not free, you have no rights as a buyer, your money is not protected

Customer service was horrible, my item was delivered to the wrong address and apparently was never even going to my house. They wouldnt give me my money back since it said it was delivered…imagine not listening to your customers when they have an issue and doing nothing to resolve it. First and last time I will ever purchase from this site.
I see the reviews and they seem a little intense. I've been very lucky where I have not had any issued both on the buyer and seller side. I love the community drawn to the app and have score so many goodies.
Buyers take weeks to send clearly fake items. The buyer protection is a joke. Not a reputable site as you can tell by the 1.1 rating. Go elsewhere

I'm all for sustainability and recycling! I'm also a sucker for thrifting and vintage pieces, all of my favourite clothing items were from here, never encountered a troublesome seller or problems with shopping, etc. Experience is great and I got my moneys worth
The fees are insanely high that Depop charges. They also have a ridiculous shipping system that will end you with making less than $1 profit (this is if you charge fair prices in your shop)! I see no reason why they have the fees that high when Depop is pretty simple and bare min type of platform service...
This platform manipulates sellers to price items way higher than normal or what is appropriate. Or, the seller ends up eating costs or making VERY little profit despite doing all the work and SELLING an item to someone + mailing it out. I wish this could be remedied, but with the way the 1% runs everything and the less privileged are forced to use crappy unfair platforms like Depop to attempt to keep the lights on.
Also, the site forces you to be 'active' regularly but gives no timeline as to what that equals. Not sure how this is okay? I noticed last week I had been on the app, liked some other sellers items and even replied to a msg- yet the next day Depop took my profile down stating I hadn't used the app recently enough.
The longer I use Depop the more angry and used I feel. :(
I have a very small shop on Depop- its been amazing to offload some things I dont use anymore (or never have for some things) - payment is through paypal or depop itself, either way your covered if the item is faulty, not as described, counterfiet ect. While Ive had two bad experiences with fake disigner products from two seperate people I have gotten my money back despite it being a bit of a pain (but hey compared to what I've gone through with house of CB its peanuts) - what I LOVE about Depop is the positive attitude of 99% of the shop owners. Everyone is so polite, patient and positive. Yes I may have brought the most cheapest fake "Gucci SoHo disco bag" that ever was made but I've also had some family issues that have prevented me from shipping my sold items as quick as I would like but everyone is so understanding and lovely. Its encouraged to leave positive feedback and unless you have really had a bad experience you'd be hard pressed to do so. I love this platform tbh
Tip for consumers:
Be polite, don't stress in someone doesn't get back to you immediately - you can bargain but people are in bad situations sometimes and need the cash - with designer items just be aware as usual

Twice items have been ordered thru depop site. Twice we were told by the seller, "there's a problem at the post office". 2 different sellers. Wouldn't share the tracking #, because there wasn't one, they never shipped anything out. Went thru PayPal to get the money back. Shady as hell people
They will allow people to sell their used underwear, solicit sex, and reference their only fans, but banned me because I used a few stock photographs of items I was selling that are new. I don't always have the time to go take photos of the items I'm selling and have never had any return requests or bad reviews but they banned me. This site stated that because my use of stock photos that they value creativity and wanted me to take new pictures of everything on my account and that they would not allow me to have my account back. My stock images are my own and don't infringe on any copyright and are from my other selling sites and I use them for all my sales but they just just said nope. So apparently take $#*!ty photos and videos of your stuff and they will let you sell on there. Stupidest selling site I've ever had to deal with. These photos I have given as reference that are mine to use are too good and so they banned me for them even though it's my product and items I've made.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away if you have professional photos of your sales items.

Must be run by crackheads - there is ZERO help or communication. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. Save yourself the hassle and buy from local merchants or ANYWHERE but here.
Tip for consumers:
Swoop is a scam.

I ordered a necklace and the seller sent earrings after two weeks of zero communication, etc. went to the resolution centre, which is a joke! Said to file a claim in PayPal or “click here”, which lead to a “back to home help screen” option. Thanks a lot! SCAM.
Please never sell on this app. They took my money from my sales and never gave it to me. They say the bank account that I use daily isn't real. There's no help center available when you click the button. Then you are stuck only using the money only on depop, which seems like a scam to me. I've tried contacting them with absolutely no luck on resolving issues this issue. I've seen numerous people saying the same thing.
I got hacked by scammers on this site. They stole my credit card details and tried 4 times to withdraw money from my mastercard. They were professional scammers I closed my mastercard and closed my banking so they could not attempt to steal again I am reporting them to the fruad team

I bought nothing from de pop because i was scammed by hackers
I enjoy Depop as it easy to sell on and usually great. The only issue I have is their support, it's absolutely insane that such a large company handling peoples money does not have a direct phone line. I had an issue of missing payments and contacted Depop who said to email them but also you can message them on twitter, I did both of these things. On twitter they just responded and said to email them… I received an automated response that did not answer anything and I've been waiting for a real person for three days now. Previously I had an issue where I didn't recognize a charge on my bank account. They assured me they would never charge my bank account directly and told me to ask PayPal. PayPal said it clearly is a charge from depop as it only says DEPOP. When I asked them again to explain what the charge is they just stopped responding. Once things get difficult and they actually have to use their brains for a problem they go silent. Absolutely ridiculous, why am I giving them 10% of each of my sales if they can't even help. I'll never get the $11 from the missing sale because I can't prove that I refunded the buyer because they can't tell me where the money went.
(I've sold 5 things and they still consider me a "new" seller) I sold something and still haven't gotten my payment after a MONTH and another one that was supposed to be available today (10 business days = 2 weeks later) and that one still won't let me get paid even though it literally says today is the date. I am so annoyed and don't understand why everyone loves Depop so much. I have all my information set up on the app so I don't understand why I'm still waiting
I sold a brand new pair of shoes. Buyer asked for a refund, claiming that she didn't wear them, that they were too small. I allowed the refund if shoes were not worn and still new. She sent them back worn, scratched and completely damaged. I immediately notified Depop (with photos of the damaged shoes) and got no response. I've sent them multiple emails. The buyer got a refund. I am here to warn you, this app is crap!
Tip for consumers:
Avoid Depop app at all costs. Literally.

They take 10% off the top and then another 6% of sales. As a seller providing free shipping to buyers you are penalized with the extra 6% fee because you choose to buy postage through USPS instead of selecting the marked-up-in-price "depop shipping" options. It's the same USPS Ground Advantage service it just costs more though depop. So as punishment for refusing to utilize the marked-up shipping, they gouge you with a flat 6% rate for having the nerve. They call it a "payment fee". The actual app does not tell the seller that they'll be charged more for not buying overpriced depop USPS labels. Enhanced click-n-ship rates at USPS are much cheaper than what depop charges for the same USPS service and weight shipping.
Tip for consumers:
Seller fees are 16%, not 10%.
Depop is where the world's creatives come to buy, sell and discover the most inspiring and unique things.
